Introduction to me and my blog!
Hi, I’m Alex. A brief bio about me and my background:
I got interested in pursuing physical therapy and athletic training as a career after a lengthy shoulder injury and rehab while playing baseball in high school. This is a very cliche answer, I’d wager about 75% of PTs have similar answers.
I graduated from Canisius University with my bachelors in athletic training, and have worked in numerous settings as a certified athletic trainer since then. After undergrad, I went to D’Youville University in Buffalo for my Doctor of Physical Therapy training. A year after graduating, I completed a sports physical therapy residency at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and received specialty training and mentoring in sports injury rehabilitation and concussion, mostly in adolescent athletes. Now I own my own practice in Buffalo, NY: Impulse Physical Therapy. I care for patients with sports injuries, post surgery, and concussion. I also participate in teaching, research, and integrate into high performance environments at the NCAA Division 1 level and in private sports performance settings.
This blog is going to be all about trying to take my knowledge of sports injury, pediatric orthopedics, concussion, rehabilitation, and athletic development and translate that to the masses for better understanding, and for parents and patients to be able to make more informed decisions about theirs and their families’ healthcare.
I am excited to start and I hope people can gain something from this blog! Thanks for reading.
